Cyber Tribe

I'm almost without words to describe the freakishly perfect British Vogue photo shoot, appropriately named, Cyber Tribe.  It's very cyber-futuristic looking, but to me, not in the stereotypical way. The color and styling of this is just awesome.  And notice the McQueen items!

Can I get a "hell yeah!"?  British Vogue keeps topping itself for me!

Fred Butler

One of my good friends from work was telling me that one of her friends back in London designed the "telephone hat" that Lady Gaga wears in her Telephone video.  I was excited to see it and to see more of her work because if it outfits Lady Gaga then it must be crazyawesome.

Her friend is Fred Butler, who is a props stylist and accessories designer in London.  How insane is that hat??  Fred has a blog too, which I recommend.  This girl is so creative and I can't wait to see what she does next!

nOir Rings

Although out of my price range, these rings by nOir are by far the most unique and cool out of any rings I've seen.  I only wear one ring, ever, but I would totally cover my fingers in rings by nOir!!

MY GOD, RIGHT?!  I need that hedgehog!  I need that octopus!!        

Etsy, Here I Come!

I've been building up to this for so so long now.  I work in design, I studied design, I love making things and it's really all I can think about.  I work so much at my full-time job that it is just really difficult to do anything else substantial outside of work.  I've been working toward building ideas, sewing prototypes and creating a brand for a while now.  In tiny bits.  I've never felt close.  I've never felt ready.

I'm starting to feel ready, you guys!

I've shopped for a color palette for my first products which will be manipulated fabric in various techniques and framed as wall art.  Sweet, hey?

Cooling and calming but fresh and fun.  I like how sophisticated this palette looks and can't wait to dig into it and see it all come together!

Pops of Color

Lately I'm loving how *fun* colored nail polish looks.

I have a ton of nail polish and for some reason it all seems to be reds and pinks and variations of those colors.  Bleh.  Red is awesome but I felt ready for something new so I picked up these at the drug store:

I'm feeling like everything should feel new this spring.  Change is so refreshing to me and I love to embrace it!

Apron Adoration

I've been leisurely collecting aprons for the past 3 years.

I thought about the aprons today and how I've never really photographed them all, or even seen them all spread out to see how many I actually have.  So, that's just what I did!

They're a mix of vintage, store bought and handmade!  The vintage ones are the best, though.  Soft old fabrics and perfectly done hand pleating and embroidery...just amazing.

Color On Color

When the black shoes -on- black tights trend started showing up on the runways, I thought it looked amazing and knew it was going to catch on.  Sure enough, for many seasons now, black-on-black is still going strong.  I love wearing black tights with black heels but have felt lately that it's not feeling fresh anymore.  After seeing Givenchy do red-on-red this season, I thought it was about time for an update!

It also made me think of my own wardrobe and how I could remix it into color-on-color looks.  I was pleasantly surprised to find enough tights to match enough shoes!

McQueen Gave Me Chills

Alexander McQueen's last collection, inspired by art from the Dark Ages, was chillingly beautiful.

The review of the Fall 2010 collection on style.com, written by Sarah Mower, tells of some of the details within the pieces.  She writes, "He had ordered fabric that translated digital photographs of paintings of high-church angels and Bosch demons into hand-loomed jacquards, then taken the materials and cut stately caped gowns and short draped dresses."

My favorite girl again!  This time she's modeling for Forever 21.  How amazing does she look?!

I think it's that hair.  It just wins over all other hair, ever.

CFA Cat Show

We went to the CFA cat show in Grove City, Ohio with some friends from work on Sunday.  We definitely didn't know what to expect and went with open minds and anticipation of seeing cool looking cats.

We saw tables of, well, stuff.  Not even always cat related.  This one was a table full of random things which each had a cup for raffle tickets.  For $5 you could win a cat bed, ceramic egg, a feather, books...

The criticism I have is that the show had NO clothes for sale!  I was expecting to be able to get a really sweet cat shirt or accessory of some kind...like the ones Brielle and Mike are wearing.  We are thinking we could be the pioneers of this and have huge set-ups at cat shows of all cat themed fashion, for people.

Check THIS out...

There were some funny looking cats.  There were also some amazingly cute cats.

Maine Coons!!  These cats are HUGE and they are so good and smart.  This giant (hard to tell from the pic since there's nothing next to him to compare) was 13 pounds already at 8 months old.  Apparently they keep growing until they're between 3 and 5!

This guy was really beautiful...but was literally meowing constantly the entire time he was in that cage.  None of the other cats were even making any noise.  Just him.  Diva.

If you like cats, I highly suggest attending a cat show near you!  It was only $5 and it was so cool to see all the interesting looking cats...and cat people!

Franklin Park Conservatory

Back in January, during my one year anniversary weekend celebration with Evan, we went to the Franklin Park Conservatory here in Columbus.  Taking a camera somewhere like that is so much fun because every picture is an awesome picture.  There's an endless amount of photo opportunity!

  

All of the glass art in the conservatory is by Dale Chihuly.  It looked so amazing intermingling with the plants.  Natural and made-made art in harmony.

CFA Cat Show: Preview

We went to the CFA Cat show today in Grove City, Ohio.  We thought it would be a new and interesting world to get a peek into.  Plus...we just love cute kitties.  Irresistible.

I took a bunch of photos that I will share once I edit them down (and get rid of all the blurry cat face ones) but I wanted to share one with you as a preview!

 

What a beauty, right??  This was the last photo I took and it was by far my favorite... because I got to get right up close!

Embellished Tights

I've been really in love with printed tights and leggings lately.  Even more so, I've been wanting some embellished tights.  I haven't been able to actually find any so I might have to resort to making my own.  Such is life.

In the meantime, I've been eying these amazing printed leggings by Black Milk.

They also have an awesome blog all about tights, called... Too Many Tights blog.  Yes!!  This blog rules the tights world.  You have not seen crazy awesome tights until you've seen this blog!

Any leads on some awesome, available, affordable embellished or printed tights?

Project 365: Month 2

It's a bit late but I just realized that I didn't post my full set of photos from last month's Project 365 like I did the month before!

I think now that I've been doing the project for two and a half months...it has officially become a habit.  You know that feeling when you KNOW you're forgetting to do something routine?  You don't leave the house without brushing your teeth in the morning because you just know to do it before you leave, out of habit? 

That is how my Project 365 is going now.  I can't go to bed without picking up my camera.
Awesome, right?  :)

 

I wonder if, at the end of the project, we'll see recurring themes in my photos?  Or will they just be totally random?

The Final McQueen Show

I've really been in anticipation for photos to be released of McQueen's Pre-Fall 2010 collection.  I look at it as the last pieces we'll get that are "from him".  Looking through the pictures I will admit I even got a little emotional.  Knowing we have to cherish the beauty in the collection more than ever because he'll never give us another show again.

It's really hard to lose a hero.

I love it when a shop offers such perfectly crave-satisfying things.  Mmmm.

Indie Business 2.0

I'm so excited to be a student of Indie Business 2.0!!  I signed up right at the last minute and I'm so glad that I did.  It seems like not only is it going to be packed full of great information, but also INSPIRATION.  And what a great community to become a part of.

It will be like business classes... but way cuter.
