Today I had a sudden urge to make pie.
It is obvious that watching too much Pushing Dasies encouraged this (main character is a PIE MAKER, hellooo!) and they are always eating tons of delicious looking pies.
I have these mini tart pans that I have never used and I thought it was a perfect excuse. It was my first time making pie and it was not an easy thing to make. I went with blueberry and even made the crust myself.
The crust was the hardest part. I think I got flour on every surface in the kitchen. Including the floor and probably the cat.
We just split one that was fresh out of the oven. The verdict is...YUM! There's some cinnamon and nutmeg in there and I was surprised that it actually went well with blueberry. It really did. The next time I make these, I'll do the egg wash to the crust. It would make for a more golden and shiny crust that looks so good on pie.
