First of all, it's pronounced Ty-tonka. And for short you may call it Tyke! I'm sure, ever since we announced our move, you have been dying to see the photos of this new tiny town we are calling home. Well wait no more! On Wednesday morning I put on my sparkly Toms and strapped my camera 'round my neck to see what Titonka had to show me at 7:30am. The weather was seriously perfect and the sun was coming up quickly. All was quiet with the exception of cows mooing on the not too distant farms. I couldn't help but smile.
My first impressions of Titonka are good ones, albeit, different from what I'm used to! The people here have been overwhelmingly friendly, warm and welcoming. I used to joke about Estherville being so small that they'd know we were the new people in town. Well in Titonka, they seriously DO know we're the new people in town! Another thing I noticed? Everyone waves to each other here! When you're walking and they drive by, they wave. When they're walking and you drive by, they wave. When you're both walking, you best be saying hello and waving because they sure are! It's really sweet and nice but because I am not used to it, I never notice that someone has waved to me until they're already passing me by! I need to brush up on my waving skills.
Hiiii, Titonka! Thank you for welcoming us - we already feel more at home.
