If we meet halfway-ish, it looks like it would be Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Have you been there?
They have a "Frontier Days" event held every year in June and we should totally go to it. They have a parade, live entertainment, and probably make you walk 3 miles through the woods with two buckets on a stick to fetch water from the nearest river. Can't wait!!
We might see their music pavilion:

We could try to climb on and ride their lovely abandoned ferris wheel:

We can drive past the abandoned Rosedale Dairy building. They used to make Eskimo Pies!

We can even admire their modern advertisements!

And, according to Wikipedia, Fort Dodge is the retail MECCA of the area! To find out more about this, I found this expansive list of shopping opportunities in the town!
All jokes aside, it would be a two hour drive for both of us which is totally easy enough to do on a weekend and make an event out of it! I love exploring small towns and I can't wait for this new adventure. I'm going to continue this "Iowa" series and see what else we discover!
